Which is better: Kinoki foot pad or the foot baths?

My grandfather is having deeply of lung trouble and we know that either of the above two methods would be willing for him. Preferably, I would like someone who have tried both to answer this question, but if you are clued-up in this variety of thing, afterwards that would be great too.
