My mother always give us Kaopectate for diarrhea when I was growing up. I bought some for my husband - extra strength - it didn't do anything for his diarrhea. I looked at the ingredients: bismuth subsalicylate - same as Pepto Bismol (which doesn't do anything for diarrhea, surrounded by my opinion). I did a little research on the internet and found out that the helpful ingredient in Kaopectate have changed twice since its creation. The original ingredient, kaolinite (mined from clay) be the original ingredient. Attapulgite clay replaced the kaolinite contained by the late 90's, and since 2003 (approx.), pink bismuth subsalicylate (the same ingredient surrounded by Pepto Bismol) has be used.
The choice medicine in a minute is Loperamide (generic), which is found in Immodium. Don't excess your money on Kaopectate any more. nice as info, I've never knew that oh!
