I pierced my belly button about a week ago...and i've be cleaining it as directed haven't missed a day or time but for days gone by few days i've notied tat at the top hole of the piercing where the globe is and the bottom part where on earth the ball is ...it's red and looks swollen but i don't see puss or have a feeling any puss . is this normal?..is something wrong?..please serve...my sister said it may be irritated from accidently sleeping on my tummy and cleaning it a bit too much...but i don't know =[ ..help please It is relatively possibly just upset from anyone slept on. New piercings are sensitive.
It could also be annoyed with anything its being cleaned near. Don't use regular soap or bactine spray or anything harsh similar to that. You should be using a gentle cleanser approaching Provon and sea saline soaks for soothing.
Keep a close eye on it, infections are very adjectives in navel piercings.
It may a short time ago be irritated as your sister said but it may also be infected. I'd just keep hold of a close eye on it for the next few days and if it become sore or starts to produce puss I'd get it checked out.
